People did love WhatsApp more than anything. Status update was emotion for many. Facing backlash and user anger at the new changes in the app, WhatsApp is reportedly bringing back the old Status feature that allowed users to set up a text message as their status in their user’s profiles. However, now the feature once it is back will be called Tagline.
Few days’ back WhatsApp had rolled out a new feature called Status. This adds a tab to the app, similar to the Chat tab, where people can share their photos and videos. At the same time, company removed the old “status” feature that was part of user profile.
A Twitter account Wabetainfo that often leaks features from beta versions of the chat apps tweeted that in WhatsApp beta for iOS 2.17.6.21 and for Windows Phone 2.17.82 the Tagline feature has been added, although for now it is hidden. In the Android version too, the feature is expected to make a comeback. WhatsApp’s new Status feature has so far divided users. Many see it as an unnecessary complication that will turn their chat into a social media app. Many others, meanwhile, like the feature but lament the loss of old Status feature and removal of Contacts tab from the main navigation bar.
After reports of Status tab and Tagline, WhatsApp is now working on a new update for its users. Reportedly, the chat app has added a new feature in its Windows app for beta testers. The new updated 2.17.86 gives more information of any individual chat like the number of media files shared or which chat is occupying the how much space in the app.
Users can now see the number of texts, images and GIFs shared with any contact by just clicking on an individual chat. According to a report, WhatsApp is also planning to add a new Size tab to the app window under which user can see how much space is any chat taking on the app. The change log reads, “Clicking on individual chats now gives you more detailed information. The “Size” tab contains the same data in a different order since the size is sorted by the size of images and text but not by the number.”
Reportedly, these chats will be organized on the basis of video and image sizes shared in that particular chat. This will help user easily identify the chats that hog large and unnecessary space on the app storage and delete it to create space. These updates are available only for those beta testers who use the app on Windows phones.
